Moneyhub is closing its consumer app on 31 July 2026, according to Moneyhub's own notice. You can move to WPS Advisory's LifeStage app, or export your data and switch to something new. If what you want is to understand and improve your household's everyday spending, keel is built for exactly that.

The right replacement depends on what you actually valued in Moneyhub. If it was pulling investments, pensions and property into a single net worth figure, a like-for-like aggregator is the closer match. If it was making sense of where your household's money actually goes each month, and knowing what to do about it, that is exactly what keel is for. This guide covers what's happening, what to do before the deadline, and how the honest options compare.

Is Moneyhub closing down? What is actually happening

Yes. Moneyhub is closing its direct-to-consumer app to focus on its enterprise business. It is an orderly handover, not a sudden shutdown. Moneyhub's partner, WPS Advisory, is taking over the app, and Moneyhub says more than 10,000 users had already moved to WPS's LifeStage version when it published its closure notice.

Moneyhub's own notice says the app will be "officially sunsetted and no longer available from the 31st of July" 2026. Many third-party roundups still quote 14 August, an earlier date that has since been brought forward, so treat Moneyhub's own notice as the source of truth for the current position.

Before that date you have a choice. You can move your account to WPS LifeStage, which keeps the same underlying platform and honours any active subscription. Or you can log in, download a CSV of your data, and close your account. If you do nothing, Moneyhub says all remaining accounts and data will be deleted automatically in line with GDPR rules. Nothing is lost without warning, but nothing is kept for you either, so spending a few minutes to save your data before the deadline is worth it.

What should you do before Moneyhub closes?

Whichever route you take, act while the app still works. The steps are short.

  1. Log into the Moneyhub app before 31 July 2026. Logging in is what keeps your options open. After the closure date the app is gone.
  2. Decide: stay or move. To stay on the same platform, follow the dashboard prompt to migrate to WPS LifeStage. To leave, go to your transactions and export a CSV of your data.
  3. Save your export somewhere safe. The CSV includes your transaction history and categories. It does not include investment data or custom category mappings, so if those matter to you, note them down separately.
  4. Close your account if you are leaving. Choosing to delete removes your stored data on your terms rather than by automatic deletion later.

Your exported CSV is also the bridge to a new app. Most budgeting tools that accept file imports, keel included, can read that history so you do not start from a blank slate.

What is the best Moneyhub alternative? Match the app to what you valued

There is no single best answer, because Moneyhub did several jobs at once. The honest way to choose is to match the app to the part you relied on. If your priority was a single net worth figure across investments and pensions, an aggregator is the closer fit. But if what you want is to get on top of your household's money and actually improve it, month to month, that is what keel is built for, and it is the job the aggregators tend to do lightly.

AppBest for
keel Most households, especially with more than one income source: understanding your money and actually improving it, together, with less admin
Emma If watching investments and net worth in one place is your main goal
PocketSmith If you like building detailed forecasts by hand
earmarkIQ If you mainly want Open Banking aggregation with tax and investment tools
WPS LifeStage If you want nothing to change: it is the same Moneyhub, renamed

keel is built for the household in that top row. It works on the web and on your phone, and gives you and your partner one shared view even if you keep separate accounts. It shows you where you are heading, not just where you have been, so you can see a change coming and act on it. And switching is not the hard option: you export your Moneyhub file, upload it once, and we set your account up for you, usually within a day or two.

What is keel?

keel is a UK household budgeting and coaching app for web and mobile. It keeps on top of your spending across every account, shows a household where its money is going, and helps you improve it with a clear next step, rather than just logging what already happened. It is built for couples and families who want to get on top of their everyday money, not aggregate their whole wealth.

What makes keel different for a household

keel does not try to be a whole-wealth dashboard. It focuses on the money moving through your accounts and what to do about it, and it does three things the aggregators generally do not.

  • Household-first. keel is built for two people sharing a financial life, not one person tracking their own accounts. Partners can keep separate bank accounts and still see one honest household picture, so nobody has to pool everything to get clarity.
  • Built to help you improve, not just log the past. Most money apps are a record of what already happened. keel is built to move you forward: it spots where your spending is drifting, tells you the one change worth making, and shows whether it worked. Plain language, not another chart to read.
  • Built for real, messy income. Plenty of households do not earn in tidy monthly salaries. If you are self-employed, mix personal and business spending, or have income that swings from month to month, keel is designed to handle that rather than assume a clean payslip.
  • Web and mobile. Some Moneyhub users found it awkward on a desktop. keel works properly in a browser as well as on your phone, which matters if you do your real thinking about money at a laptop.

The one-line version: keel is household-first, and it helps you improve your money, not just log what already happened.

One honest boundary: keel is a budgeting and coaching app, not a whole-wealth dashboard. If a single net worth number across investments and pensions is the feature you cannot live without, an aggregator will serve you better.

How to move from Moneyhub to keel

Because Moneyhub is closing to a deadline, keel is opening early access to people moving over, ahead of the general public beta, and we set your account up for you. Here is how it works before 31 July.

  1. Export your data from Moneyhub before 31 July, while the app is still live, and keep the CSV safe. That file is your history, and it is what you bring into keel.
  2. Come to keel and upload it. People switching from Moneyhub skip the waitlist and get three months free, rather than the standard one month at public beta. Start at keel for Moneyhub switchers and upload your export. That is the only bit we need from you.
  3. We set it up for you. We seed your keel account with your history, make sure every account and category is migrated correctly, and send you your login details, usually within 24 to 48 hours.

A Moneyhub export is not a standard bank statement, so rather than leave you to sort it out, a person sets it up properly for you. If moving financial data around raises questions, how keel handles your data and privacy covers it.

Prefer to stay put for now? Moving to WPS LifeStage keeps you on the Moneyhub platform with no break, and you can still switch to keel later using the CSV you saved.

Common questions

Is Moneyhub being discontinued?

Moneyhub is discontinuing its direct-to-consumer app to concentrate on its enterprise business. The consumer app is being handed to its partner WPS Advisory, which runs the white-label LifeStage version. Existing users can migrate to LifeStage or export their data and switch to another app before the closure date.

When is Moneyhub closing?

Moneyhub's own notice says the app is sunsetted and no longer available from 31 July 2026. Some third-party articles still list an earlier 14 August date that has been brought forward, so check Moneyhub's own notice for the current position and act while the app still works.

What are the alternatives to Moneyhub?

Common UK options include Emma and PocketSmith for aggregation and forecasting, Snoop for simple spending insights, earmarkIQ for Open Banking net worth tracking, and staying on WPS LifeStage. For household budgeting and coaching specifically, keel is built for that narrower job.

Is my Moneyhub data safe, and how do I export it?

Yes. Log into the Moneyhub app before the closure date, go to your transactions, and download a CSV. It includes your transaction history and categories, though not investment data or custom category mappings. Save the file somewhere safe, as it is your only copy once the app closes.

Is the WPS Advisory migration worth doing?

It depends on what you want. WPS LifeStage keeps you on the same Moneyhub platform with minimal disruption and is worth considering if you valued the aggregation and want continuity. If you would rather have a focused budgeting and coaching app for your household, a switch may suit you better. This is general information, not advice.

Is keel a like-for-like Moneyhub replacement?

No, and it is honest about that. keel is a household budgeting and coaching app, not a whole-wealth aggregator that pulls investments and pensions into one net worth figure. If aggregation was the feature you relied on, an aggregator fits better. If understanding your household spending was the goal, keel is built for that.

Which budgeting app is best in the UK?

There is no single best app, because people want different things: aggregation, forecasting, simple alerts, or household coaching. The useful question is what you want the app to do. Match the tool to that job, check it supports your banks, and try it before you commit. This is general information, not a recommendation.
